This study examines the potential economic impact of Somalia’s accession to the East African Community (EAC) using a qualitative research design focused on a comprehensive review of existing literature and comparative analysis. The research explores key dimensions such as trade capacity, foreign direct investment (FDI), infrastructure development, and security challenges to understand the implications of EAC membership for Somalia. The findings suggest that Somalia could experience significant economic benefits, particularly in terms of trade expansion and increased FDI, similar to other EAC member states. However, these potential gains are contingent on substantial improvements in infrastructure and governance. The study also highlights the critical role of addressing security challenges, as ongoing issues could undermine economic integration efforts. A comparative analysis with South Sudan, the most recent EAC member, underscores the importance of regional cooperation and the need for comprehensive reforms in Somalia. The study concludes that while EAC membership offers promising opportunities, Somalia must prioritize infrastructure investments, security improvements, and governance reforms to fully capitalize on these benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
